Tunnel fire-proofing system

Two automatic tunnel-molding system trains were designed, built and commissioned for the Liefkenshoek railway tunnel in Antwerp, which provides a link for freight transport between the left and right riversides.

The tunnel-molding system trains were used to pour up the footpaths and the railways in the tunnel. Each train is about 40m long and can move, set up and adjust itself hydraulically. On top of the train there are several hydraulically driven platforms with pouring arms that fill up every formwork. The required concrete is supplied by means of long pipes, which move together with the working platforms.
